Okay, so today I wanted to try something a bit different. I decided to remake the Prada Medium Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. Yeah, that super classy one. I saw it online and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” So, I started gathering all the stuff I needed.

First off, I found some Saffiano leather. This part was a bit tricky because I needed it to be just right, you know? Not too stiff, not too soft. I managed to find a decent piece after checking out a few different leather shops. It wasn’t exactly cheap, but hey, it’s for a Prada, right? Next, I looked for an enamel triangle logo. This was easier than I thought. I got a replica online, and it looked pretty darn close to the real thing.

  • Got the Saffiano leather
  • Found a replica enamel triangle logo
  • Bought some sturdy zippers

I also picked up two rolled top handles and an adjustable detachable shoulder strap. These were important to get the look and feel of the original bag. The handles had to be just the right shape and size, and the strap needed to be adjustable for different looks. I spent a good amount of time looking for these, but I eventually found some that worked well.

With all the materials in hand, I started working on the bag. Cutting the leather was the first big step. I measured everything twice to make sure I didn’t mess up. Then I stitched the pieces together. This part took forever! I had to be super careful to get the stitches even and neat.

Putting It All Together

After stitching, I attached the handles and the shoulder strap. This was a bit of a challenge because I wanted them to be really secure. No one wants their bag handles falling off, especially not a Prada! I used some strong thread and reinforced the stitching to make sure they were solid. Then came the zippers. I put in two zip-fastening compartments because the original bag has them, and they’re super handy.

Finally, I added the enamel triangle logo. This was the cherry on top. It really brought the whole thing together and made it look like a proper Prada bag. I have to say, I was pretty proud of how it turned out. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely close enough for me to feel good about using it.

All in all, it was a fun project. Took a lot of time and effort, but it was worth it. I learned a lot about working with leather and making bags. Would I do it again? Maybe. It’s definitely something I’d consider if I wanted another high-end bag without the high-end price tag.

This whole thing just goes to show, you don’t need to buy the real deal if you’re willing to put in some work. Plus, it’s kinda cool to say you made your own “Prada” bag, right?
