This green watch, you know, that Rolex Submariner, it’s a real hot item. Everybody wants one, my nephew says they’re hard to get. He says it’s a classic, whatever that means. Says it never goes outta style. Good for him, I guess. Me? I just think it’s a watch. A fancy one, sure, but still just a watch.
But these young folks, they go crazy for it. They say it’s the best dive watch. What’s a dive watch? You swim with it? I don’t know. I wouldn’t swim with a watch that fancy. I’d be too scared to lose it. Anyway, they say this Submariner, it’s the top dog. The best of the best.
Now, my nephew, he’s a good boy, but he spends his money on silly things. He wanted one of these Rolex Submariner green watches so bad. But they cost a pretty penny. More than I make in a year, I reckon. So, he got one that looks just like it. A fake one. He calls it a “high imitation.”
He showed it to me the other day. Honestly, I couldn’t tell the difference. It’s green, it’s got that shiny band, it tells the time. Looks like a Rolex to me. He says it’s almost as good as the real thing. He says it’s a good alternative to Rolex Submariner.
He was real proud of it. Showing it off to everyone. I guess if it makes him happy, that’s all that matters. It’s just a watch to me, but to him it’s something special. Something…classic, I guess is the word he used.
He kept going on and on about how it’s a classic style. This style never gets old. I guess they just made a lot of green watches like this back in the day. And the young people like these old things. They said this kind of watch can be used for diving.
He said there are a lot of these fake ones out there. All different prices, he said. You can get a cheap one, or a really expensive one that’s almost like the real Rolex. He said his is a good one. Not too cheap, not too expensive. Just right, he said. He called it a budget Rolex Submariner.
- Green color, just like the real one, he said.

- Tells the time, that’s what a watch is for, right?
- He says it’s almost as good as a real Rolex.
He’s been wearing it every day since he got it. He even sleeps with it on, I think. He’s afraid someone might steal it. I told him, “Boy, it’s just a watch. Don’t get so worked up about it.”
But he wouldn’t listen. He loves that watch. He says it makes him feel good to wear it. Makes him feel like he’s got something special. I guess that’s what these young folks want. To feel special. He’s always saying it’s a good deal. A cheap Rolex Submariner, and he loves it to the moon and back.
I still don’t understand it. It’s just a watch. But if it makes him happy, then I’m happy for him. He works hard, he deserves to have something nice. Even if it is just a fake Rolex Submariner green.
These days, seems like everyone wants a Rolex Submariner. My nephew says they’re all the rage. I see them on TV, on the wrists of those fancy actors. I guess they’re a status symbol, whatever that means.
But not everyone can afford a real one. They cost more than a new car, my nephew told me. Can you believe that? For a watch! So, a lot of folks are getting these high imitation ones. Like my nephew.
He says there’s a whole bunch of different kinds. Not just the green one. He showed me pictures on his phone. Black ones, blue ones, even ones with gold on them. All Rolex Submariner alternatives, he called them. And many different Rolex Submariner prices, he said.
- Some are cheap, he said. Made with cheap parts.
- Some are really expensive. Almost like the real thing.
- He said his is in the middle. A good balance, he called it.
- He said his will last a long time. As long as a real Rolex, maybe.
He was trying to convince me to get one. Said I could wear it to church. I told him, “Boy, I don’t need a fancy watch to talk to the Lord.” He just laughed. He thinks I’m old-fashioned.
Maybe I am. But I don’t see the need for all this fuss over a watch. A watch tells the time. That’s all it needs to do. But these young folks today, they want more than that. They want a Rolex Submariner, or something that looks like one. They want that classic style.
I guess it’s a different world now. Things were simpler when I was young. We didn’t have all these fancy watches. We were just happy to have a roof over our heads and food on the table.
But I’m not going to judge my nephew. He’s a good boy. He just wants to fit in. And if a high imitation Rolex Submariner green watch helps him do that, then who am I to say anything?
He’s happy. That’s all that matters. This is a real best budget Rolex Submariner. Even if it is just a fake watch. It’s his fake watch. And he loves it. This is his best dive watch. That’s enough for me. The choices are endless, they said.
