This here CopyOMEGA Ω Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon”, it’s somethin’ else. I ain’t never seen nothin’ like it. Big ol’ thing, ’bout 44.25mm, they say. Big enough to see from across the field, I reckon.
Folks say it’s like the moon. The dark side. Whatever that means. I seen the moon plenty of times, never did see a dark side. Always looks the same to me, bright and shiny, ‘cept when it’s hidin’. But this watch, it’s all black and fancy. Like somethin’ a city slicker would wear.

This watch, it’s got all these little holes on it. Like it got shot with a BB gun, but on purpose. They call it “cratered.” Makes it look like the moon, they say. But the moon ain’t got holes that small. Maybe if you squint. This Omega Speedmaster copy is a real head-scratcher, that’s for sure.
My grandson, he’s all into these space things. He’d probably love this watch. Me, I don’t get it. But it’s shiny. I like shiny. He told me this Omega is the “Dark Side of the Moon.” Sounds mysterious, don’t it? Like somethin’ outta one of them scary movies.
They say it’s a “sporty” watch. I guess you could wear it while you’re choppin’ wood. Or maybe not. Might get it all scratched up. It’s a “modern” watch, whatever that means. I guess it ain’t old-fashioned like me. It’s definitely an Omega Speedmaster copy, though. You can tell by lookin’ at it.
Now, this here watch, it ain’t cheap. They say it is a copy. Twelve thousand dollars! Can you believe that? For a copy! You could buy a whole herd of cows for that kind of money. Or a new tractor. Or a whole bunch of other things that are a lot more useful than a fancy watch that is a copy, I tell ya. That’s how much this Omega Speedmaster Apollo 8 copy costs.
They say this here watch is like the one they wore on Apollo 11. That was the one where they walked on the moon, weren’t it? Back in ’69. I remember that. We was all glued to the TV. Black and white TV, mind you. Didn’t have no color back then. This “Dark Side of the Moon” thing is a copy of that, I guess.
They call the Apollo 11 watch the “Moonwatch.” But they say not all Speedmasters are Moonwatches. Confusin’, ain’t it? Like tryin’ to figure out which chicken laid which egg. This Omega Speedmaster Apollo 8 is makin’ my head spin.
On the back of this watch, it’s got some words. “Apollo 8, Dec 1968,” it says. And somethin’ about “we’ll see you on the other side.” Sounds spooky, don’t it? Like they’re talkin’ to ghosts or somethin’. Maybe they are. Who knows what goes on up there on the moon. This watch is a copy of the real Omega Speedmaster, though. Don’t forget that.
This watch, it’s got a black strap. Made outta some kinda fancy cloth. “Cordura,” they call it. Sounds like somethin’ you’d use to tie up a hog. But it looks nice, I guess. Matches the watch. This strap is on the Omega Speedmaster Apollo 8 copy, of course.
This watch is somethin’. Don’t know if I’d ever wear it. Too fancy for me. But I can see why some folks might like it. It’s different. And it’s got a story, I guess. About the moon and space and all that. That’s what they say about this Omega Speedmaster “Dark Side of the Moon” copy, anyway.
I still think twelve thousand dollars is a lot of money for a copy of a watch. But what do I know? I’m just a simple person. Don’t know much about fancy watches. But I know what I like. And I like things that are simple and useful. This Omega Speedmaster Apollo 8 copy, it ain’t exactly simple. But it sure is somethin’ to look at.
Maybe I’ll show it to my grandson. He might like this copy of the real Omega Speedmaster. He’s always talkin’ about space. Maybe this watch will make him happy. Even if it is a copy. That’s all that matters, I reckon. Makin’ people happy. Even if it’s with a twelve-thousand-dollar watch that looks like the moon. A copy of the real “Dark Side of the Moon”, that is.
