Alright, folks, gather ’round. Let me tell you about this crazy project I just wrapped up. I decided to try and make a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100G-010, you know, the one you see in those fancy official stores. Yeah, it’s a real looker with all those diamonds and stuff.

First, I spent days just staring at pictures of this watch. I mean, I really looked at every little detail. Then I started to find similar-looking parts and materials. I hit up all the usual spots online, and let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. I needed the right kind of metal, and those little sparkly stones? Forget about it.

Once I got all the stuff, that’s when the real fun started. I had to shape the metal to look like the watch case. I used some tools I had lying around, and a few I had to buy from the store. It took forever, and my hands were killing me by the end, but I finally got it looking somewhat right.

  • Shaping the case: This was a real pain. I used a small hammer and some other tools to bend and shape the metal. It took a lot of tries to get it looking decent.
  • Setting the stones: This was even harder. I had to carefully place each tiny stone into the case and make sure they were secure. I used some strong glue and a pair of tweezers. My eyes were practically crossed by the end of it.
  • Putting it all together: Once the case and stones were done, I had to put the whole watch together. I used some tiny screws and a lot of patience. There were a few times I almost threw the whole thing across the room, but I kept at it.

After weeks of work, I finally finished it. It’s not perfect, not by a long shot. It doesn’t even tick! But honestly, I’m pretty proud of myself. It looks somewhat like the real deal from afar. Up close? Well, let’s just say it has a “unique” charm.

The Aftermath

So, would I do it again? Probably not. It was a cool experience, but man, it was a ton of work. I think I’ll stick to just admiring these watches from a distance from now on. My hands and my eyes need a break!
