Okay, so the other day, I started thinking about getting a new bag. Not just any bag, though. I wanted a remake of the PRADA Medium Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag. You know, the one that’s super classy and perfect for work? Yeah, that one.
First off, I did some digging online to see what’s up with these bags. Found out that the Galleria is like, the go-to bag if you need something that fits your laptop or important papers and still makes you look sharp. And the Saffiano leather? It’s everywhere now, but Prada was using it way back when.
Why This Bag?

So, I started looking at places that sell remake bags. There are a few spots online, but I wanted to be careful. I mean, you hear stories about people getting ripped off, and I definitely didn’t want that to happen to me.
I checked out a couple of websites. One of them, The RealReal, seemed okay. But then I thought, “What if I can find someone who makes these bags themselves?” That way, I could maybe even ask for a few custom tweaks, like an extra pocket or something.
Kept searching and found a few artisans online who do custom leather work. Emailed a couple of them, asking about the Galleria bag. One guy got back to me pretty quick, saying he could do it. He even sent me some pictures of other bags he’s made. They looked pretty good, I gotta say.
We chatted a bit more about the details, like what kind of leather he’d use (real Saffiano, of course), the color (classic black), and the hardware (gold-toned, to match the original). He gave me a quote, and it was a bit more than what I’d pay for a used one online, but not crazy expensive.
After thinking it over for a few days, I decided to go for it. Sent him a deposit, and now I’m just waiting for him to work his magic. He said it’ll take a few weeks, which is fine. Good things take time, right?
I’m pretty excited to see how it turns out. I’ll definitely post some pics when I get it. Fingers crossed it looks as good as the real deal!
