Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today, I’m gonna share my little adventure of remaking the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100R-010, a watch that’s just a real beauty, you know?
So, I started by doing a ton of research. I mean, I looked at pictures, watched videos, and read everything I could find about this watch. I really wanted to get every little detail right, you feel me?
Sourcing the Parts
- First, I had to find all the parts. That was a real pain in the neck. I searched online, went to some local watch shops, and even asked around in some watch forums. It took a while, but I finally managed to gather everything I needed.
- Then, I started with the case. I carefully measured and cut the materials, making sure it was just the right shape and size. I’m not gonna lie, I messed up a few times, but hey, that’s part of the process, right?
The Tricky Movement
- The movement was the trickiest part. I disassembled a similar movement to see how it worked, and then I slowly started putting together the new one. It was like a puzzle, but a really, really complicated one.
- I spent hours and hours just trying to get the movement right. I tweaked this, I adjusted that, and I even had to make some tiny parts from scratch. It was tough, but man, it was satisfying when it finally started ticking.
Finishing Touches
- Once the movement was done, I moved on to the dial and hands. I carefully painted the dial, applied the markers, and attached the hands. This part was actually kind of relaxing, compared to the movement.
- Finally, I put everything together. I carefully placed the movement in the case, attached the dial, and secured the crystal. And there it was, my very own remake of the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100R-010.
I gotta say, it wasn’t easy. It took a lot of time, effort, and patience. But in the end, it was totally worth it. I’m really proud of how it turned out, and I learned a ton along the way. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and that’s what matters. I hope you guys enjoyed this little story. Until next time, stay curious!
