Okay, so, I’ve been obsessed with watches lately, and there’s this one from Patek Philippe that I just can’t get out of my head – the Golden Ellipse 5738R. This thing is a real beauty, but the price tag? Forget about it! We’re talking tens of thousands of dollars. No way I could ever afford that.
But that didn’t stop me. I started thinking, “What if I could just…make my own?” I know, it sounds crazy, but I’ve been getting into DIY projects lately, and I figured, why not try to remake a watch? Not to sell or anything, just for myself, as a fun project.
First, I started digging around online for information about the 5738R. I looked at pictures, read about its features, and basically tried to learn everything I could about this watch. It’s got this classy, rose gold case and a simple, elegant dial. I knew replicating that wouldn’t be easy, but I was up for the challenge.
Next, I started hunting for materials. I went to a bunch of watch part suppliers to get those components. Finding the right rose gold color was tough, but I eventually found something that looked pretty close. For the dial, I decided to go with a simple, dark brown material that would look decent.
Then came the hard part: putting it all together. I’ve never assembled a watch before, so this was a totally new experience for me. I watched some tutorials online and carefully started piecing together. There were definitely some frustrating moments, a few times I messed up and had to start over. But slowly, it started to come together.

It’s a reminder that even if you can’t afford the real deal, you can still find ways to enjoy the things you love. Plus, it was a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way. Who knows, maybe I’ll try to remake another watch in the future. But for now, I’m pretty happy with my homemade Golden Ellipse.
